Light Breaks into New Day
Light breaks into new day
Renewed by the mere fact of morning
Skin chilled by remnants of night’s end
And the promise of surprise
Inhale fresh deeply
With conviction
Turn to views peripheral
Facing squarely the yet-to-come
A day to be rejoiced
Not as inevitable, but as gift
Faith not in the sun rising
But in rising to the occasion of new sun
